One of the most extraordinary types of art and painting has got to be Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. The works of art are so intricate and detailed that a viewer can be sucked into the work and engulfed in every small stroke of the paint brush. Of course when Impressionism was first introduced in France it was not as well receveived as many might think. In fact these works were really experiments at that time. The artists were testing what was traditional and well known.
The popular art at the time was realistic and obvious. Impressionism allowed the artist to capture a particular moment in time. The lighting, the rippling waters, and people were painted in such a way that gave an art piece a distinct look and take on something like a sunset.
Some of the more well-known artists of Impressionism were Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renior, Camille Pissaro, Edgar Degas and even women artists. One of those women was Berthe Morisot. You will notice that the artists are all very different and so are their works. For the first time they were depicting what they saw through their own eyes instead of what was expected to be painted.
